WHAT IS IT
What the federal government can do to secure its cloud computing services from attacks better, and what are the risks to taxpayers? How four agencies are doing it – Homeland, Treasury, Labor, and Agriculture.
WHY IMPORTANT
Recent hacks show they are not protected from cyberattacks and disruption. We found that they did not always follow critical practices for doing so. 24 federal agencies were surveyed about using a national program for protecting cloud services. At the time, 15 of 24 agencies told us they didn’t always use this program, are limited in their ability or methods of overseeing these services, and monitoring against attacks had to be done manually and was not automated.
