Computer vision neural network-powered “Choose My Model” try-on feature, now in beta, which will now allow Walmart customers to select a model that better matches their own appearance and body type. Online shoppers will be able to choose from among 50 different models to find one who best reflects their own skin tone, height and body shape so they can get a better idea of how clothing would look on them.

One of the most frustrating aspects of shopping for clothes online is understanding how an item will actually look on you. Also, helping to cut down on the number of returns of clothes that don’t work when tried on at home.

Predictive analysis focuses on determining outcomes based on performance and demographic data. The concept behind this method is that, by acknowledging how many students will be earning a degree for that year, higher education institutions can make better decisions.
WHY IMORTANT
One of the most significant advantages of using predictive analytics in higher education is that it can positively affect the ratio of caseload vs. full-time advisors at colleges.
Certain students need more individualized attention, which is why using predictive analysis to determine who they are and thus increase their chances of getting a degree is something colleges are starting to do.
WHAT IS IT?
A major theoretical and experimental breakthrough that allows scientists to predict, with an unprecedented precision, when a soft material will crack and fail.
WHY IMPORTANT
The findings have immediate implications for the engineering and manufacture of a wide range of polymers. They also provide insights into how natural soft materials -- such as the connective tissues in our bodies and even our brains -- break down. This advance provides a missing link between chemistry and materials science and engineering for polymer networks to understand the mechanics of cavitation or the sudden, unstable crack-causing expansions within soft materials and tissues.

The major purpose of the decentralized autonomous organization is to help eradicate a significant problem in many conventional organizations — the principal-agent problem.

The DAO is one major invention that is challenging current systems of governance. Utilizing NFTs, DAOs are changing our perspective of how organizations and systems should be run, and they put further credence to the idea that the optimal form of governance does not have to do with hierarchical structures.

ETH researchers have developed a machine learning method that automatically detects whether a machine sounds "healthy" or not.
WHY IMPORTANT
The industry will be able to use a tool that automatically monitors the equipment and warns them in time—without requiring any special prior knowledge—when conspicuous, abnormal, or "unhealthy" sounds occur in the equipment.
WHAT IS IT?
Durable skills used to be called "life skills" or "soft skills," which downplays how important they are in the workplace.
WHY IMPORTANT
Durable skills are essential because workers entering the workforce today will probably change careers seven or eight times in their lifetime. We also know that technical skills age out because of constant economic and technological changes. But durable skills like critical thinking, working collaboratively, and communicating effectively with others do not change. They are evergreen. After reviewing 500,000 job postings from 11,000 Idaho companies, Emsi found that these are the top 10 durable skills employers want in order of preference: Communication, leadership; metacognition (self-awareness); critical thinking; collaboration; character; growth mindset; mindfulness; creativity; and fortitude.
The top five durable skills are wanted by employers four times more than the top five technical skills.
