While the example reflects health care, the fundamentals apply to any provider organization wanting workflow optimization, minimizing staff shortages, and improving the customer experience. RTLS offerings, such as automated nurse call systems, can decrease response times to patient needs by 40% and help healthcare staff find fulfillment in their profession as they gain more time to focus on patient care. RTLS solutions provide healthcare staff more time for patient interaction by reducing manual documentation and workflow bottlenecks while enhancing clear communication between staff.

WHY IMPORTANT

Advanced workflow platforms automatically run in the background and produce a significant impact by eliminating non-value-added tasks for caregivers and offering patients proactive status updates, estimated wait times, family text messaging to keep loved ones informed, and providing staff views on display boards that give an easy-to-read layout of each patient's location, the time they've been at the facility, the time they've been waiting for a staff member or provider, and which staff member or provider is currently in their room or was most recently with them.

Technology-driven hybrid working across enterprises. This disruptive change continues with renewed vigor. New disruptive technologies include the Metaverse and Web3.0, automated systems, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered devices, including better chatbots and robots.

WHY IMPORTANT

Investment bank Goldman Sachs sees the Metaverse as an $8-trillion opportunity. And according to JP Morgan the economics of the Metaverse – or metanomics – offers opportunities in almost every area of business with a market opportunity of $1 trillion in annual revenue in a few years. Early this year, JP Morgan became the first bank in the US to open a lounge in the Metaverse, Decentraland. Decentraland, powered by the Ethereum blockchain, lets users buy plots of land with MANA cryptocurrency (used in transacting in the Metaverse).

Analyst firm Gartner predicts that by 2026, one-fourth or 25% of the world’s internet users will spend at least an hour a day in the Metaverse for working, shopping, learning, social interactions, etc.

WHY IMPORTANT

Co-development projects where robotics companies and customers work together in developing specific solutions are also bound to increase in 2023 and beyond. Ultimately these allow customers to directly influence the product they are buying, while at the same time delivering valuable feedback for the robotic companies – meaning they will be able to launch a product to the benefit of the whole market.
