Learn the steps to turn your idea into cash. If your idea solves an annoying problem or improves the way we live or work, these workshops are for you. Our five Tech-Start Workshops are organized for those having an idea for a business and needing help, are collectively, a boot camp that is concise, to the point, facilitated by experts in their fields, that will leave you inspired, encouraged and motivated!

Please register for each session as we limit each workshop to 20 participants, to offer individual attention to your questions.

Previous participants have gone on to win regional Shark Tank competitions, non-profit organization grants of $100,000 and TEDCO funding.

NOTE: Parking is available in the garage attached to the Towson Branch. Parking costs only $2.00 evenings after 5:30 p.m.

All workshops begin at 6:30PM and conclude at 7:30PM

Workshop 1 – Have an Idea – What’s Next?
September 25, 2018 – Towson Library, lower level meeting room – 6:30PM to 7:30PM
An overview of the proven steps, other inventors and entrepreneurs have taken to move an idea from concept into cash.  You’ll also be introduced to the four subsequent programs.

Workshop 2 – Is Your Idea Good Enough?
October 2, 2018 – Towson Library, lower level meeting room – 6:30PM to 7:30PM
Here we get into sharing those valuable tips on what an inventor needs to know and do to determine if a concept is worth pursuing.  Topics will include identifying markets, customer discovery, and creating a value proposition.

Workshop 3 – Intellectual Property
October 9 – Towson Library, lower level meeting room – 6:30PM to 7:30PM
Learn about the various ways you can protect your idea.  Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights are reviewed.

Workshop 4 – Funding Your Dream
October 23, 2018 – Towson Library, lower level meeting room – 6:30PM to 7:30PM
Learn what sources of funding are appropriate for you and where to find money for your dream venture.

Workshop 5 – How to Write a Winning Business Plan
October 30, 2018 – Towson Library, lower level meeting room – 6:30PM to 7:30PM
The components of a winning business plan are discussed, and tips offered on how to make them sparkle.
